05/22/10 General Admission is now open. Competition registration will be open soon!
05/11/10 We're very happy to announce that Chuy's, an Austin icon, has joined us as a Sponsoring partner for this year's Festival! More announcements soon.
03/28/10 Agh. Still working on getting ticket sales set up. We'll get there.
02/29/10 Regular admission tickets should be available for sale in the next week, or two. We are going to be working with a great ticketing company called Brown Paper Tickets to provide ticketing services this year!
02/28/10 We're continuing to move forward with the planning and preparation for this year's Festival, and are very excited to start hearing from more people in the martial arts community.

01/30/10 We've been working hard planning for the 2010 Festival, and it's going to be a good year. We've learned a lot of lessons about how to put on such a large event, and we're looking forward to everything finally coming together for this year's Festival.
Purpose
The Austin Martial Arts Festival is a registered Texas non-profit corporation organized for the purposes described below.
To produce an annual amateur martial arts tournament of multiple martial disciplines that:
- Follows standardized competition rules related to respective martial arts disciplines.
- Insures competitor safety in contact competitions, grouping events by class and skill and requiring safety gear as described in the Festival's competition rules.
- Staffs the amateur tournament with impartial referees, judges, scorekeepers and timekeepers who are knowledgeable and skilled in their tasks for the respective martial arts competition event.
- Encourages competitors to increase skill and technique through awards and special recognition.
- Supports participating schools and groups with special recognitions and links at www.AMAFest.org for their sponsored tournaments and festivals.
- Expands appreciation for the various martial disciplines with demonstrations by masters and by participating clubs or schools.
- Describes the cultures associated with martial arts in dance and music presentations.
- Offers opportunities to dialogue with exhibitors and presenters on subjects such as history, culture, healing arts, ethics, precepts, and current associations and organizations.
